I believe that most, but not all, actors and athletes get paid too much. This is because when people
pay athletes and actors, they are putting a price on their entertainment. Putting a cash value on entertainment is not necessarily wrong, but at the same time I can definitely find much less expensive ways to keep myself entertained (like the 70+ games I own on steam). However, paying actors and athletes millions, sometimes billions, of dollars over a short period of time is bullshit. This money could be better used elsewhere, like the fucking school system for example. Then maybe we will have enough cash to actually afford to teach kids stuff they will fucking use in real life.
Another thing wrong with overpaying actors and athletes is the skill set needed to perform their jobs. it ultimately boils down to actors being paid millions of dollars to feed the audience (sometimes) convincing lies (as do con artists), and athletes get paid obscene amounts of money to (most of the time) put a ball into some sort of hoop or goal, or to run fast.
I suppose the running fast comes from the roman days when the fast runners were employed as messengers, but this skill set is no longer required as we now have these things called cars that can go much faster than any human without giving much effort. No matter how fast Usain Bolt can run, I can still run his ass over with a fucking Prius. Actually, that gives me an idea. Perhaps the only sport that could be justified as having a large salary would be gladiatorial matches, as the fighters would not last long enough to put a dent in the economy. But unfortunately blood sport nowadays is more rare than sacrificing animals to appease whatever daemons are currently possessing you.
